A group of 2nd graders learn abouot measurements. Two 2nd graders measure water and record the results. Mrs. Gossett's class measures sand. Mrs. Gossett's class learns about measuring using split dried peas. Students take turns measuring and recording. Future scientists apply their new skills. Students learn about measuring. Debbie Bynum gave a special presentation to Mrs. Gossett's class.

Measure Up!

Mrs. Gossett’s 2nd graders get a special treat when Debbie Bynum from Region 18 comes to let the children practice measuring capacity. There were 4 centers and the students got to measure different items such as unpopped popcorn, water, sand and split dried peas. They chose different sized containers and were given different size scoops to measure with. They learned that unless you have the same size scoop, everyone’s measurements will be different.
