Monday, January 8, 2008

What Intermediate Offers

The final benchmark testing was conducted the week of January 28, 2008. A mid-year progress report was sent home describing your child's progress and recommendations for remediation (if necessary). If you have not received information concerning your child's progress, please contact the Fort Stockton Intermediate School staff at (432) 336-4141.

The following remediation programs are available:

  1. Saturday School - 9 AM to Noon
  2. After-School Tutorials - Monday, Tuesday and Thursday - 3:40 to 5:00 PM

For up-to-date grade information, please use our online grade monitoring system (Gradespeed).

Other Suggestions

  • After benchmark testing, contact school staff to identify your child's weaknesses and learn ways you can help your child at home.
  • Determine which resources will best help your child and follow through with a daily study routine.
  • Make sure your child is up-to-date on assignments.
  • To avoid missing important information presented in class, make sure your child is attending school regularly.
  • Ask your child what he/she is learning. Keep probing if your child simply replies "nothing".
  • Help your child organize school papers and assignments.
  • Provide reading material at home.
  • Serve healthy meals - the brain needs fuel.
  • Celebrate achievements no matter how small they many be.
  • Encourage your child to do their very best!

Friday, May 2, 2008

The Natural Resource and Conservation Service came to the Intermediate Campus on Friday, May 2nd, to present a program introducing our students to the agricultural industry. Areas of discussion included cotton farming, cotton processing and the products produced from cotton; by-products from cattle and sheep; engineering aspects of agriculture; water conservation; predator control; topography and water resources; and soil composition. The students had a great time and spent many hours afterwards discussing the topics learned through this event.
