Announcements |
The All-District selections have
been announced. Twenty-three positions are filled by FSHS Panthers plus Rex Whitfield was named All-District Coach. DJ was named MVP unanimously by all the schools in the district. Kyle was named Defensive MVP. Lorenzo was named as 2nd Punter.
For the first team offense, Adrian was selected in the running back position, Baxter as tight end, Brandon as receiver, Cole as center, Jordan as lineman. Panthers on the 1st team defense are Pete as defensive end, Cole and Armando as defensive linemen, Jose and Jesus as linebackers and Armando and Alex as defensive backs.
For the second team offense, Edgar and Alex were selected as receivers, David and Estahal as offensive linemen and Christian as a utility player. For the second team defense, Victor was selected as a defensive end, Omar as a defensive lineman and Julio as a defensive back.
Five Panthers also received honorable mention: Wade and Chris as receivers, Lorenzo as outside linebacker/running back, Jared as outside linebacker and John on special teams. READ MORE
The Varsity Panthers lost to the Andrews Mustangs in triple overtime on Friday, November 13th. The final score was 33-36. The Panthers fought hard in this game and kept battling to the very end. It was a tough loss.
The Freshmen and JV Teams have completed their 2009 seasons. The games scheduled to be played on October 29th were canceled due to snow in Van Horn. The Freshmen team had a record of 0-1-7. The JV team finished the season with a record of 7-1 with their only loss to the Monahans Loboes midway through the season.
The young man pictured here is Bear Hernandez, from the FSHS class of 2005 who helps the Panthers out a lot by tossing footballs to the officials and retrieving balls kicked through the goal posts. Other young men, including Coach Whitfield's son, have also helped out in this way during the regular season. Thank you for volunteering your time for the Panthers!
