What we believe...

The Long-Range Plan for Technology, 2006-2020, states that Today’s students are technology-savvy, feel strongly about the positive value of technology, and rely upon technology as an essential and preferred component of every aspect of their lives. Today’s students need access to life-changing tools that are available for their use before they walk into a school building. With different expectations, these learners require a significant, immediate shift in teaching methodology.

The fundamental goal of the Long-Range Plan for Technology  is to enhance student learning through technology.  In order to achieve this goal, Fort Stockton ISD believes educators must first have the technology skills and competencies needed to prepare the 21st century student for the 21st century work force. FSISD believes all educators must acquire basic technology proficiencies and demonstrate that they are technology literate with the required skills to teach their students technology  proficiencies to acquire information, solve problems, and communicate using technology.  The Fort Stockton ISD Technology Plan (2008-2011) reflects the aforementioned technology skills ideology for employees.

Fort Stockton ISD is committed to students by providing a curriculum richly integrated with technology, and will achieve this goal through the following points:

  • Providing every classroom teacher with technological devices such as computers, tablet PCs, document cameras, projectors, printers, digital cameras,  scanners, and AV carts.   TAKS  software packages such as Grand Central Station, A+ Learning, Sleek, Renaissance Learning, Performance Power and United Streaming aid classroom teachers to teach their students the skills and knowledge needed to pass the TAKS test.
  • Providing every campus with current electronic technologies in the Main Distribution Frames and the Intermediate Distribution Frames to utilize the existing fiber-optic infrastructure to its fullest.
  • Helping our educators acquire the technology skills they need to teach their students the Technology Applications TEKS, by providing the staff a technology competency certification program which will give them the tools they need to teach in a technology-infused classroom.

What is  nTLB?...                       ...History of nTLB

nTLB or "TickleB",  is an acronym for " No Teacher Left Behind ".  It was devised as a "Fun-Filled" and enjoyable technology training time for teachers and community members to come together to hone their technology skills.
nTLB has evolved into a Teacher Technology Competencies Certification Program (TTCCP)  designed to bring all FSISD teacher's technology skills up to a competency level equivalent to the  8th grade Technology Application TEKS.  The trainings consist of detailed 2-hr workshops designed to teach educators needed technology skills to help facilitate technology integration into their classrooms.

Although teacher training has been offered in Fort Stockton 4 days a week all summer long for the past 5 years, this is  the FIRST YEAR technology competencies are a requirement for teachers and administrators at
Fort Stockton Schools.

The Program...

The Fort Stockton Independent School District will initiate in the fall of the  2007-2008 school year, a technology competencies certification program for educators . The purpose of this program is to certify our staff with an eighth grade competency level in technology, as described by the 8th Grade Technology TEKS.  Fort Stockton Independent School District believes this competency level is needed by educators so they can effectively teach the Technology Application TEKS.

TTCC Program must be completed by March 1, 2010 for all teachers employed by August 13, 2007.  Any existing FSISD teacher and new teachers employed by August 13, 2007 will have 3 calendar years to complete the certification program.  New employees for the 2008-2009 school year will have 2 calendar years to complete the TTCC Program.   All employees, existing and new, must be certified by March 1, 2010, or face contract non-renewal.  Thereafter, all new employees must have the TTCC Program completed by contract renewal time of the first year of employment; failure to complete such certification by this date can be a basis for non-renewal.
