Mrs. Zendel Hernandez-Trejo
A native El Pasoan with a passion for the performing arts. Mrs. Trejo began her music career at the young age of five, attending private vocal and piano classes. By 5th grade, Mrs. Trejo was envolved in many performing functions including Kids n' Co, El Paso Children's Choir, and the El Paso Youth Chorale. By high school Zendel was part of the El Paso Chorale performing alongside the El Paso Opera Company. In high school Mrs. Trejo excelled in choir, theater, dance, cheerleading, guitar, NHS, and student council. Choir was always the main focus leading to one ratings in S&E and two consecutive years in The Texas All-State choir. Mrs. Trejo graduated with honors and was awarded the Longhorn Opportunity Scholarship to attend The University of Texas at Austin. At UT, Mrs Trejo studied under Rose Taylor, Nikita Storojev, William Lewis, and Robert Desimone. She made her operatic debut as Susanna from the Marriage of Figaro in Salzburg, Austria with the Austrian-American Mozart Academy. Zendel continued her education in Opera by being a member of Austin Lyric Opera, Butler School of Music, and the Gilbert and Sullivan Society of Austin. After earning her Masters degree in Vocal performance, Mrs. Trejo moved back to El Paso to work at the prestigious Radford Private School as an assistant to band and piano. Mrs. Trejo has recently become the new high school choir director at Fort Stockton High School after working at Apache Elementary as the fine arts teacher. She currently resides in Fort Stockton with her beloved husband, Luis Trejo.
