A LOVE OF READING CAN TRANSCEND ALL BOUNDARIES

Originally from Big Spring, Texas, I graduated BSHS, Howard College, attended UT Permian Basin and went on to graduate Texas A & M Corpus Christi, living in Corpus for twenty years before coming back home to West Texas.

I write poetry, essays and short stories in my free time. Music is my life, my favorite color is green and I run on green enchiladas and coffee!!   I travel when I can, taking pictures wherever I go, and take care of my cats:  Grey (11 years), Stripe (4 years),  Deucey (2 years), Lil Mama (1 year,) and Johnnie 3 Mews (9 months).

I am embarking on my second year  here in Fort Stockton and I am so happy to be spending another year among the staff I love, in the friendliest town that I've ever lived.  Aside from teaching Reading and Reading Lab, I also coach UIL.   My students inspire me as much as I hope to inspire them.,

“Yet there was always in me, even when I was very small, the sense that I ought to be somewhere else. And wander I did, although, in my everyday life, I had nowhere to go and no imaginable reason on earth why I should want to leave. The buses took to the interstate without me, the trains sped by. So I wandered the world through books. I went to Victorian England in the pages of 'Middlemarch' and 'A little Princess', and to Saint Petersburg before the fall of the tsar with 'Anna Karenina'. I went to Tara, and Manderley, and Thornfield Hall, all those great houses, with their high ceilings and high drama, as I read 'Gone with the Wind', 'Rebecca' and 'Jane Eyre'.”
