Title IX

Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 protects students and employees from sex discrimination, gender-based harassment, sexual harassment (which includes sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence and stalking), gender-based bullying and retaliation, in educational programs and associated activities at institutions that receive federal funding. 

The Fort Stockton Independent School District is committed to providing an educational environment free from discrimination or victimization, which can negatively impact any person’s education or career.

Non-Discrimination Statement

Fort Stockton ISD does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex (including gender, gender identity, and sexual orientation), disability, age, or any other basis prohibited by law, in any of its education programs, activities, or employment. The District’s nondiscrimination policy extends to the admission of students in the District’s education programs or activities, and to applicants for employment. 

Retaliation, including intimidation, threats, coercion, or discrimination against an individual for interfering with a right or privilege secured by this policy or relevant law, or because the person has made a complaint, testified, assisted, or participated in an investigation or other process under this policy or related law, is also prohibited by District policy and law. Complaints of discrimination, including harassment and retaliation, may be filed in accordance with Fort Stockton ISD Board Policy FFH. 

In accordance with Title IX of the 1972 Education Amendments, Fort Stockton ISD is required not to discriminate on the basis of sex in its education programs or activities. Any person may report sex discrimination, including sex-based harassment, whether the person reporting is the person alleged to be the victim of conduct that could constitute sex discrimination or sex-based harassment, in person, by mail, by telephone, or by electronic mail, using the contact information listed for the Title IX Coordinator. Such a report may be made at any time (including during non-business hours) by using the telephone number or electronic mail address, or by mail to the office address, listed for the Title IX Coordinator.
