Dear Parents and Students,
The decision to extend Spring Break was made in order to create an opportunity to have difficult conversations regarding the best ways to complete the Spring 2020 semester. Out of an abundance of caution and a desire to get ahead of this ever-changing landscape, Fort Stockton High School and Midland College will be moving to online classes beginning Monday, March 23, 2020. In addition, all UIL activities have been suspended until the end of March. STAAR testing has also been suspended for the rest of the school year. Midland College students taking courses that require a lab, like PrinTech and CNA will receive information from the college about how to fulfill the lab requirement.
Fort Stockton High School will follow appropriate safety, health and hygiene protocols to ensure the health and safety of all students, faculty, and staff.
We will provide both high tech and low-tech options to deliver instruction. In the meantime, high school courses will primarily be available through Google Classroom and Midland College will continue to use Canvas. Students will need a device and internet at home.
If a student left their Chromebook at school or needs a Chromebook issued, please call the high school's main office to make arrangements to pick it up.
If a student has no internet access, the school will provide printed materials on a weekly basis. Printed materials may be picked up at the high school's main entrance on the following schedule.
Mondays and Fridays
7:30 am to 9:30 am
3:15 pm to 4:15 pm
If you have other extenuating circumstances please call the main office at 432-336-4101 so that we can plan together to best serve your student.
You will undoubtedly have questions and I want to assure you that support will be in place to assist in this transition. There are many issues yet to be resolved. Look for additional messages over the next few days as we collect more information from local, state and federal authorities. Students are encouraged to check school Gmail and Google Classroom for announcements.
Thank you and be safe.
