Tanisha Garner

Hi, I'm Tanisha Garner ("Ms. G" to my students), and I'm thrilled to teach English III and IV at Fort Stockton High School. This will be my second year guiding young minds, and I can't wait to explore literature with you.

I was born and raised in the vibrant city of New Orleans (yes, I can make gumbo and jambalaya). My life's journey took me to Dallas after the devastating impacts of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, but my love for education never wavered.
Before teaching, I worked for over 25 years in the corporate world with companies like AT&T and GameStop. My experience there shaped my career and influenced my teaching, creating a unique bridge between classical literature and modern business communication.

I attended LSU and earned a B.A. in Speech Communications from McNeese State University. Teaching runs in my family; my great-grandmother, grandfather, and father were all educators, and I'm proud to continue that legacy.

You'll find me indulging in my love for books outside the classroom. I hope to start a True Crime Club here at Fort Stockton. Movies are another passion of mine, and I never miss a New Orleans Saints game (WHO DAT!). I am known as the "Patron Saint of Similes" for my love of creative language.

Join me this year as we delve into English literature and writing. I'm excited to share my experiences, passions, and the joy of learning with all of you at Fort Stockton High School. Welcome to my classroom!
