Fort Stockton, Texas (Aug. 16, 2023) - Fort Stockton High School's Volleyball program hosted their first games of the season at the Bill and Virginia Williams Special Events Center (SEC). The freshman, junior varsity and varsity teams played Lubbock Monterey, while the junior varsity white team hosted Marfa.

The varsity squad was unable to defeat the visiting Lubbock Monterey Lady Plainsmen. Scores for the game include 20-25, 25-20, 25-22, 23-25 and 8-15. After a hardfought first set, the Prowlers bounced back and were able to secure two victories. The Prowlers were able to feed off of the energy of the crowd and enjoyed having a great crowd for their first home game of the season.

"We are getting better everyday as a program," said Head Coach Jessica Tully-Mitchell. "We will continue to practice and work on some of our weaknesses that were exposed during sets one, four and five. I am excited for San Angelo and to see a new batch of competition for our girls."

The junior varsity was split into two teams for Tuesday night's contest. JV faced Lubbock Monterey and were defeated 25-23, 18-25 and 6-15. The JV White team faced Marfa's varsity and defeated the Lady Shorthorns 25-22, 25-16 and 25-19. Fort Stockton's Freshman Volleyball competed against Lubbock Monterey, but fell short.
