Prowler Volleyball upends visiting Seminole Maidens

Fort Stockton, Texas (Sept. 30, 2023)-- The Prowlers played host to the Seminole Maidens on Saturday afternoon. Each of the teams competed and put forth their best efforts during their matches. Once again, it was a program sweep for the Prowlers. 
It was a great contest on Saturday afternoon, with the varsity squad taking the court against another district foe. The Prowlers hosted and upended the Seminole Maidens improving to 2-1 in district competition. Scores for the game include 25-23, 25-20 and 25-21. 
Leading the defensive play for the afternoon was Aryanna Gonzalez who tallied 28 digs, two assists and one ace. Ivanna Ortiz added to the strong line of Prowler defense adding 16 digs and four kills. Addison Castro and Alyssa Rangel quarterbacked a strong offensive strike. Castro tallied 14 assists, 10 digs and three aces. Rangel recorded 11 assists. Amaya Urias slammed 11 kills, while adding three digs. Jocelynn Arcides rounded out the offense with five kills and four digs.
"We are starting to really play quality volleyball," Coach Jessica Tully-Mitchell said. "We are taking it one game at a time and we are doing a great job of getting ready for our opponents in practice. We are excited and as you have already seen, these aren't the same Prowlers."
Both sub-varsity teams defeated their opponents. They each have improved this season and are looking forward to continuing strengthening the volleyball program. The Prowlers will now look to Tuesday, Oct. 3 when they play host to Monahans. This game is set for all Prowler teams and the program will be hosting their annual Pink Out game. All fans are encouraged to wear pink!
