District Meet

The Panther and Prowler cross country teams returned to Andrews for the district 3-4A district meet. This meet determines not only the district champions but which high school runners advance to regional competition in Lubbock, Texas. The meet was unusually warm with temperatures in the low 90's which affected the times of all runners. Ali Jackson ran a 13:03.2 to win the Varsity girls division and punched her return trip to regionals in Lubbock on Tuesday, October 24th at noon. Other varsity girl runners were Ingrid Aguliar who ran a 14:32.10 for 15th place and finishing right behind her in 16th place was Summer Hinojos with a 14:40.30 two mile time. Paulina Hernandez finished 36th (17:17.20), Marlayna Salmon with a 38th place finish and a 18:28.20 and Natalie Edwards in 39th place with a 18:37.50. In the JV girls division, Karen Villanueva was the lone runner and finished with a 23:12.20 two mile time. The Panthers were led by Varsity boys Santiago Torango in 23rd place with a three mile time of 23:26.10, Derik Waight (24:44.10) for 29th place and Khalil Jackson in 32nd place with a 25:11.80 finish. Kaeon Luna and Bruno Arcides finished 21st and 31st place in the JV boys division with a 23:41.90 and 25:35.20 respectively. "It was a tough day heat wise but all of our runners finished the course and did their best in extreme temperatures for this time of the year. I am proud of how they competed." Coach Glasscock stated.  The JH girls were led by Bradalay Jimenez in 11th place with a time of 15:01.70. Alisha Padilla and Isabella Bolivar tied for 33rd with a 19:10.50 two mile time. Serenidad completed the course with a 23:58.50  for 44th place. JH Panthers were Julian Vasquez with a 14:44.80 and Angel Marquez with a 16:05.0 time. Coach Glassock stated, " The junior high runners improved a great deal this season and their future is bright."
