Varsity @ Seminole

Prowler softball returned to action here at Fort Stockton on Tuesday, March 19th vs. Seminole. The Prowlers started off red-hot with three runs in the first, third and fourth innings as they built a 9-0 lead; however the Maidens would not give up and fought back with six runs in the 5th and 7th innings but it would not be enough as the Prowlers plated four runs of their own in the bottom of the sixth inning to secure the victory 13-12. It was a hard fought game between two state ranked teams and the huge crowd would help ensure the victory for the Prowlers. The victory allowed Fort Stockton to improve to 2-1 in district play while Seminole fell to 0-3. Freshman Gabby Madrid picked up her second win of the district season and her eighth overall as she struck out one and allowed four runs in 4.2 innings. Offensively, senior Ivanna Ortiz and sophomore Jocelynn Arcides blasted home runs while junior Mia Garcia collected three doubles and picked up an RBI. Junior Kriselda Porras hit two doubles and picked up four RBI's in the victory. Senior Aryanna Gonzalez, freshman Gabby Madrid and junior Nevaeh Morales had doubles which assisted in the 13-12 victory. Coach Glasscock stated, "This was like two games in one. We were close to the ten run rule but you have to give Seminole credit for not giving in and fighting but a lot of that was self-induced by us making mental and physical errors. The two out denial thinking you have the third out really creeped into our mindset; however, our girls fought and we never relinquished the lead. The TNQ really showed up and the girls showed a great deal of character tonight. We have to realize that the season is a journey and not a destination but it is more fun to win those than the alternative. Really proud of our girls and we will get back to work immediately to fix our mistakes."
