    Dear FSISD Parents and Community,

Please see the post about postponing Strength and Conditioning Practices due to the safety and well-being of our students and staff. We have an individual who attended Thursday (6/11/2020) morning practice who was in close contact with a person who has been lab-confirmed to have COVID-19.

Texas Governor announced today, Friday, April 17th, 2020, that Texas schools will be closed for the remainder of the school year and that public education, as we know, will continue remotely.

With the Governor's announcement, Fort Stockton ISD (FSISD) will continue with remote education in the best interest of our students. In the next coming weeks, FSISD will continue to work with parents, students, and staff, providing meals and instruction as well as how we will address end of the year activities.

There are many unanswered questions, and we appreciate the patience our parents, staff, and community have given us during these trying times. FSISD will always have health and safety as the first priority of our students, staff, and community when making decisions with the guidance of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS), and our local officials.

Thank you, and we appreciate your patience in working with FSISD during these challenging times.

CDC now recommends you wear a mask in public where you can’t avoid being near people, like in grocery stores, pharmacies & healthcare settings https://bit.ly/2V8o5Y2. Remember though, your local authorities may have already issued a specific order re: masks. #StayHomeTexas

The virus lives in tiny droplets in the lungs of people w/ COVID-19, even when they don’t show symptoms. We can breathe the same air as anyone within abt. 6 ft. of us. Staying farther apart from people during this time reduces the chance of breathing in the virus. #StayHomeTexas
